Dr Shawn Medes
Specialist General Practitioner
Dr Medes is the principal GP & founder of Hawks Nest Medical Centre. He has had extensive surgical & Emergency experience through Australian Hospital System. He has completed & awarded many qualifications & courses in relation to Skin Diseases, Skin Cancer diagnosis, Skin Cancer Surgery, Cosmetic Medicine & Surgery, Plastic & reconstructive Surgery through Australasian College of Skin Cancer, Australasian College of Cosmetic Surgery, Australian College of Rural & remote Medicine & University of Sydney.
Dr Medes is currently a GP Supervisor for both Australian GP Colleges of RACGP & ACRRM
Dr Sonya Stemper
Specialist General Practitioner
Dr Sonya Stemper completed her medical training at the University of Queensland. A former surgical trainee, she has been a fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practice since 2010. At Hawks Nest Medical Ctenre Dr Sonya will be specifically offering skin checks and excisions.
In her spare time Dr Sonya enjoys running and exploring the beautiful Hawks Nest/Tea Gardens area where she now resides with her family.
Dr Hasan Ahmed
Specialist General Practitioner
Dr Hasan Ahmed graduated with Honours from the Ninawa University of Medicine in 2015. He has worked all over Australia from Surgical HMO at Northern Health in Melbourne to being an Emergency registrar at Rockhampton Base Hospital Queensland and finally being an Orthopaedic Registrar at Macquarie University Hospital Sydney before starting general practice with us at the Hawks Nest Medical Centre.
His background includes extensive clinical experience in emergency medicine, surgical training, and sports medicine. He is passionate about delivering evidence-based, patient-centred care and enjoy managing both acute and chronic health conditions. Dr Hasan Ahmed has been described as an extremely caring and thorough GP. He also does weekly visits to our local Nursing Home.
In his free time Dr Hasan enjoys playing soccer with friends and family, as well as fishing in our beautiful waterways.
Dr Lwin Lwin Myo
Dr Myo graduated with her medical degree from Myanmar in 2014 and gained valuable clinical experience as a medical officer in both Myanmar and Australia. In 2017, she relocated to Australia, where he undertook hospital rotations in Hunter New England before starting her General Practice training in Hawks Nest.
She is known for her caring manner, with a patient-centred approach that ensures her patients feel heard and supported.
Outside of medicine, Dr Myo enjoys walking on the beach, reading, cooking and spending quality time with her family.
Dr Myo consults in English and Burmese.
Melody Seymour
Podiatrist
Melody is once passionate podiatrist that likes all aspects of Podiatric care and enjoys seeing a diverse range of people and conditions. Plus she strives to keep up to date with all the latest knowledge and techniques available to provide to patients at Hawks Nest Podiatry. She has full registration and for number of years she has been practicing in the Newcastle, Port Stephens and Myall Lakes regions.
Melody comes from a close knit family and believes in community spirit. Enjoying the lifestyle of the area. She loves spending her free time camping and adventuring.
Claire (Mary) Brady
Practice Nurse
Clare brings a warm welcoming atmosphere, to our busy clinic. She holds a wealth of knowledge as a registered nurse and is dedicated to the wellbeing and health of our aging community.
Rowena Hanney
Practice Manager
Row brings a wealth of knowledge to our practice from 19 years working with NSW Health over various sites. She is passionate about providing top grade care to the community and ensuring a happy health workplace for all.
When Row isn’t busy managing our practice she is a dedicated mother of 4 and enjoys the outdoors especially fishing with her children and hubby and always looks forward to their next adventures.

Telika willis-Monk
Receptionist
Telika is one of our receptionists. She has completed her Certificate IIII in Medical Practice Assisting, so you will see her at the front desk and also in the treatment room assisting our doctors and nurse.
She strives to keep our patients happy and satisfied with their care.
In her spare time you will see her playing rugby league or spending quality time with family and friends.
Shona
Receptionist
Shona is one of our front desk receptionists. Shona has completed her Cert 3 in Business (Medical Administration) and has previously worked for Home Care providers in the Nelsons Bay area. Of a weekend you will find Shona on the football field playing with the Karuah Roo’s women’s tackle side or spending quality time with her family.
